Regrouping to Small Projects

Regrouping to Small Projects

Today it was time to catch up on invoice history in Quicken, generate a new invoice for the last two week. Another hallmark section (after grocery shopping and driving a guest around Vancouver) was to finish transcribing ideas from my paper notebook to my wiki. Lot’s of possible project ideas, from small to large. Lot’s built around the Squirrel POS System. Both ideas I had forgotten, and new ideas generated from old ones. I’m resetting my thinking to be more in line with multiple streams of income, looking at doing more small products/projects and setting them up to generate residual income. I’m thinking that I still need to choose projects carefully. Juding their individual success is still tricky, so perhaps I’ll just have to take a chance and do them and see how they turn out. A core piece is how to reach customers. I will consider talking to Jeff Henry from Cabaret Development in North Carolina, and to Todd Maleschok here in Vancouver to see if we would do well working together. I’m also thinking that setting up an online store will be a great idea. Perhaps as part of the online Squirrel POS/Restaurant Computer Systems website. Downloading of software, automatic updates, monitoring of problems could all be critical pieces. Of course they would also take time to develop, and could also be products in their own right. Something to think about. My thinking for software is really gelling around a web-based approach, which does involve some learning. The advantages of being able to use the same software from the Squirrel Server, the POS Workstation, and remotely over the Internet are just too compelling to ignore. With the addition of AJAX techniques (Javascript), it just seems too appropriate for simple UI’s.
